Bike Porn – Avanti Quantam With 11-Speed Super Record

Now here’s a piece of work.  The new Avanti Quantum with Campagnolo Record Super Record 11-speed.  You’ll be challenged to a more better tricked-out bike.

Nearly every bearing in this bike is ceramic

Check out how there are 2 silver spokes on the opposite side of the tire valve. These slightly heavier spokes counterbalance the weight of the valve so the wheel spins flawlessly.

11-speed Campy gives you a tighter gear ratio so you can find the perfect gear everytime.

The cockpit

You can pick up a steed just like this for a lot less than it looks.  Find it at Freedom Machine at 245 Chapel St. Prahran in Melbourne.  Alternatively, you can find a store near you here .

…not sure why Stu carries around this handbag everywhere he goes.  We’ll have to get him a musette

…must be mates with this guy.

I’ve seen 11spd Campy on Lovelock’s new steed – very very nice indeed. The last two shots cracked me up, top work! :)

all very nice, but the rear derailleur hanger is out of alignment. See photo #8.

I noticed that too. Still shifts like a dream though. That’s how good Super Record is!

Nice pick up on the derailleur didn’t notice still works like a dream (will fix it). I reckon that was from the Nat’s almost came to grief on the first couple of laps when 3 guys in front hit the deck hard! The bike at the time was hours old so was very nervous..Someone did touch the rear wheel during that prang, well that’s what I thought. Lucky for me $$$$ couldn’t see any marks on the wheel.

Slightly bent hanger aside there is a massive difference moving across from 2006 Chorus to Super Record 2009. I click through the gears with beautiful precision hardly noticing the change up or down (lots of gears).

The biggest difference with bike is the stiffness in the frame and the Borat two’s. I can actually dance on the pedals like a little guy. I’ve always found it hard getting out of the saddle prior cause I’m 188cm now I actually spend more time standing.. I really think a good stiff frame can really make a huge difference on climbing. I didn’t realise how much better but this weekend I did the Dandy’s on both bikes (different days) my very tired 2006 carbon training bike for the first time in a while and man I sunk into the road. Getting out of the saddle was just too much energy.
