March 19, 2009

iphone

If you’re an iPhone, iPod Touch, or Android freak then check out Cycling Tips on your mobile.  If you don’t know what Android is, you soon will. If you don’t know what the iPhone or Touch is, you’ve been riding your bike under a rock for too long.  Just go to the same address (www.cyclingTipsBlog.com) to get your CYCLING TIP fix of the day.  The site has now been optimized for mobile devices so it loads in nanoseconds and doesn’t chew up your download quotas.  Feedback welcomed and encouraged.

cool. Well done cyclingtips! Maybe you could be giving IT tips too

For the users out there, all you need to do to make an icon on your iphone home screen (like in the top picture of this post) is go to the web address, touch the + button at the bottom of the browser, and hit the “add to home screen” option. Done – now you have a cyclingtips icon on your iphone!

Thanks for the icon TIP Jeff. I forgot to mention that. I’m still stumbling my way through all this, but it’s good fun.

An option to switch to normal mode would be nice. I don’t always like to look at optimized pages and not worried about data.

Hi Seb, thanks for your comment. I’m similar to you in that I don’t worry about data usage, so I already thought of this. Just go to the bottom of the iphone screen when you’re on CyclingTips and choose the option “view Cycling Tip’s Regular Theme”. That will take you to the same layout as you see on your computer.

Thanks for pointing that out so I could explain.

Has anyone else tried this on an Android phone yet? I’m finding that I can see the normal page – not the optimised one.

Alternatively, is there some way to force the browser (even on a PC?) to use the small theme?

Perhaps you could put a “view in mobile theme” link at the bottom of the regular themed page….

Thanks for the comment b. If you look at the bottom of the screen on the iPhonized theme , you’ll see “view cycling tips in regular theme”. Also, on the regular computer theme, you’ll see at the bottom “View Cycling Tips Mobile Theme”.

Sorry but I don’t know of any way to force the browser on a computer to use the mobile theme.

I know this is gonna sound dumb, but I really can’t find that link (I tried Firefox 3 and IE 7 and my Android phone and did view source, searched for the word “theme”).

The only thing I can see that is theme related is:
Get smart with the Thesis WordPress Theme from DIYthemes.

At the bottom right….

Any other clues?

Don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but none of this makes sense to me! Cycling Tips isn’t available as an iPhone App from the iTunes store, and I can’t see a + button at the bottom of my browser (Safari 4.0) – help?

Today I noticed the icon at the top left of the iPhone screen next to the Cyling Tips heading has replaced with a “?” and at the bottom of the screen there is some script appearing. Has something gone wrong with the site or is it my iPhone?

document.write(unescape(“%3Cscript src=”… “

I just tried to find this in the app store and it's not even listed???

Hmm….not exactly sure what's happening. I'll look into it. I changed a setting in the backend that may be causing problems. thanks for pointing it out.

There's no CT iphone app. I just optimised it for iphone and mobile viewing.

To get an icon on your iphone home screen just go to the CT web address, touch the + button at the bottom of the browser, and hit the “add to home screen” option

PRADA, except the garment marks on capital, PRADA almost no obvious identification markers, only have obvious on the leather identification marks.
2: occasionally in PRADA hot pressing, small land in leather surface.
2 the triangular sign: the only in iron PRADA leather series products are almost everyone will appear, the first impression of iron logo. Besides above in its lower part, PRADA line will indicate its “brand of” small, MILANO birthplace and establish brand year in 1913, and a word is not PRADA
