There’s 3 things I’m looking forward to in this year’s tour

1. the amount of real contenders and the openess of the race
2. the drama that is predicted to ensue with Astana
3. the fact that I can watch the tour first thing in the morning when I wake up instead of at 1am! (being in Canada this month instead of Aus!)

This is my prediction,

1st place Lance
2nd Sastre
3rd Menchov

Lance would not risk ruining his 7 straight wins record, unless, he knows for sure that his body still has the horse power. Lance will be strong come July 4th, but he won’t risk wearing the yellow jersey the first week. He will let the other teams carry it for him, untill the 2nd week.
Menchov and Sastre are much better climbers than Rogers and Evans.
Cadel just doesn’t have the leg snap to get away in the mountains.

I think Contador followed closely by Cadel EVANS and Armstrong. leading into the last week. I think armstrong goal would be to simply monitor all his leaders challengers (As his team mates have done for him the past) and attacking if required to unsettle them. It will be up to Contador to take charge. If armstrong is in the top 5 in the last week and Contador isn’t he will go For it. If he is in the Top 10 and Contador is in the Top 5 he will play team mate role. I am sure they at Astana have flowcharted there heads off. However the best laid plans are only as good as the people in them playing there roles. No rest up for 3 weeks of no sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
