WYMTM Finalists

September 9, 2009

IMG_0043

I’ve narrowed down the top  “What You Missed This Morning” finalists and put them up in this gallery. I’m delighted that the What You Missed theme has started to be coined “WYMTM”.  Thanks to everyone who has come up with this time saving abbreviation (props to Justin who got it rolling).

As you can see the bar has been raised quite high.  There are still some great camera phone photos that have made it through, but carrying a compact camera or even a SLR is what you gotta do to play with the big boys.

There have been lots of comments, complaints and hate email towards the fact that some of these photos were not taken this morning.  Cut me some slack guys…it’s just a theme!  I’m not gonna verify and reject any photos taken last month in the morning.

Again, the first 1st prize are a set of Parts of Passion skewers donated by Cycling Edge in Melbourne.   RRP $177 weight 39gms a choice of a few hot colors.

The 2nd first prize is a Lance Armstrong biography called LANCE: The Making of the World’s Greatest Champion by renowned cycling journalist John Wilcockson.

Capoforma has also thrown in some socks and caps to sweeten the prize pack (they are some of the most PRO socks on the market).  I haven’t received them yet but I think there’s a few to go around.

Today is the last day of the competition so get your photos in.  Save me some grief and please keep them to this morning.  Or don’t tell me otherwise.

Why has no one submitted a shot of Turner's thighs straddling his Prince of Spain? The sheer homoeroticism of such a photo would win the comp for sure.

  • Kerry Ann
or even sleeping with the Prince of Spain. But we can't let him, we will never hear the end of it.........
  • hard_man
don't you mean Turner's thighs stradding "The Prince of Spain ....."
  • I actually had heaps of mountain biking photos sent in but I want to keep this a site dedicated to road cycling. However, Pat sent me this photo from Northern India where he runs mtb trips and I couldn't pass on putting it up. Unreal!

    Link to said trips?

If you want to see some pics of his India trips you can see them here.
Pat also does mtb skills coaching. He's an amazing mtb'r and knows how to teach it.

Re: The India shot. The only thing I missed when I decided to sleep in that morning seems to be a catastrophic fall.
  • Tibet FTW - definitely.
  • Lee
A 2010 Calendar would be amazing!!
  • Stunning photographs - just stunning... It'll be a hard job to judge - I don't envy you! I particularly like 'Beach Road Morning' and 'Ormond Point' where the lighting invokes the feeling of what it's like to be up before the sun rises - I can almost feel the crisp air and hear birds the birds chirping... ah, the serenity!

Also love the overseas shots, so inspiring. 'Passo Pordoi' and 'Port de Pailheres' and 'Tibet' look totally amazing.

Good luck to all the contributors!
  • Don't feel sorry for me Grace. I'm gonna leave the difficult task of picking the winners up the you guys! I'll put up a poll tomorrow so everyone can vote.
