WYMTM01

The polls are now closed and the results are in.  The winner of the What You Missed This Morning (WYMTM) photo competition is….

Pat Fitzpatrick’s India!

India

…AND second prize is Ben Cooper’s Passo Pordoi

pordoi1

Both photos had the exact same percentage of votes but India had 2 more votes.  Unbelievably close!  Site sponsor Cycling Edge has offered a set of Parts of Passion skewers to each of these contestants so you’re both winners.  If you guys are weight weenies you’ll love these 39g Swiss made skewers (RRP at $177).

In 3rd place is Brad Davie’s Tibet with just a few more votes than “Beach Road”.  For this Brad will receive Lance Armstrong’s biography called LANCE: The Making of the World’s Greatest Champion.

Tibet

Depending on how many sets of caps and socks I receive from Capoforma I’ll be sending as many as I can out to the rest of the finalists.  I’ll be in touch with everyone separately over email.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to snap these photos and sent them in.  They definitely make we want to get out there and explore the world by bike!  To see all the photos sent in you can find them here.

BTW, the calendar suggestion is excellent and I’ll consider it for this upcoming Christmas.   Of course I’ll need permission from the contributors…

Great stuff CT – and permission for Tibet granted no problem. Thanks to Cycling Edge too – got to get in there for a look….

Congratulations Brad – stunning photo!

I think the three pictures are what cyclists dreams are made from. The photo from Tibet is amazing because of its location, and that road makes me want disc brakes on my road bike for sure. Thanks for sharing and hosting the competition.

What next Wade? A ‘what you missed this evening’ or a ‘wish you were here’ style comp?

Grace Australia September 15, 2009 at 7:22 am

Congratulations to all the winners – I bet you’re all grinners now!!! Big kudos to the 7 other finalists – the photos have been spectacular. Thanks Wade for a great idea and to the contributors for sharing and inspiring us all… can’t wait for the next comp!

Hi Jens.
Yes it would have been a little tumble off to the side.
‘Always look where you want to go and not where you don’t!’
That was my mantra as I sat atop of the ‘Wall’ before riding down.
The rock was quite gnarled on top an was tricky to get rolling on.

Hi CT.
Chuffed to bits that everyone liked the India photo. Congrats to the other photo snappers. Happy for you to use the Photo for the calendar.

The ‘India’ photo was taken high in the Indian Himalaya at around 3300m. Locals tell us we were the first ever Mountain Bike expedition to successfully reach ‘Zero Point’ at Pindari Glacier 3800m.

Incredible riding, mind blowing scenery and fantastic locals made it for a great adventure and cultural experience.

For those that like some adventure in their days, I will be hosting the next round of guided MTB adventures including skills coaching high in the Tea Estates in Kerala State south India. Starting Boxing day 09.

Love the CT posts, I look forward to reading each and everyone of them as they land in my inbox.

Big love to all the cycling brothers and sisters.

Pat ;)

Thanks CT for holding this comp. Happy for my image to make the top 10. If you get permission from the other 9 I will be happy for mine to be included in the calendar too! ;)
How bout a mini comp for the other 2-3 images needed for a calendar (not sure if you would put a unique CyclingTips flavoured front cover.)

Grace Australia September 15, 2009 at 8:34 am

Nice work CT & photographers. You should turn this into an annual competition? or Winter /
Summer.

Grace Australia September 16, 2009 at 12:21 pm

What a great idea!!! The top 3 winners for each season feature in the calendar… 4 seasons x 3 winners = 12-months of stunning and totally inspiring photographs – love it!!! Where to do I sign up to pre-order???

Powerful Pete September 20, 2009 at 4:05 am

Yes, let’s get this calendar thing going. Those pictures are simply fabulous…
