Cycling Edge’s Crown Jewel

December 19, 2009

Crown-Jewel-1

As you all know Cycling Edge has been sponsoring this blog for a long time now.  I’m grateful to be working with them because they’ve introduced me to a plethora of new bikes that would have otherwise been off my radar.  I’m not afraid to say that their Independent Fabrication, Parlee and Moots bikes are among the nicest I’ve ever seen.  I also learned that these aren’t necessarily out of my price range either.   Every single one of their bikes are tailored the your own specifications – size, componentry, price, etc.  My first mistake was thinking that they’re exclusive and completely out of my price range.  Not true at all…

Next time you’re in South Melbourne go have a look at the Cycling Edge showroom even just to gawk.  I certainly do once or twice a month.  Also, if you’re in WA you can see the Independent Fabrication shown above at Cycle Bespoke. They also carry a range of the Parlee’s that I keep going on about.

Have a great weekend and Merry Ho Ho if you’ve started your holidays.  I’ll be reducing the number of posts over the Christmas break but I’ll be back in full force in January.  I’ll be racing in the Bay Crit series, racing the National Crit and Road races, covering the Tour Down Under, as well as taking a 10 day cycling trip to Vietnam in March!  What a year of TIPS it’s gonna be!

The Bay crits are great highly recommended if you can get down there. Good to see a finish in Williamstown this year. See you there Wade. I'll have the SLR with me at Geelong on the Sunday hope to get some good shots.

Anyone else notice the bike in the photo has no chain or cassette?

So that's the secret of a fancy bike… powered by will power, not pedal power.

Those Indy Fab bikes in particular are really beautiful. Mind you, I'm having my cheapo roadie (CAAD9 frame + Ultegra bits got for a song off eBay) built this week, I shouldn't even be looking at more bikes already!!

I'm glad you noticed and kicked their viral marketing campaign into motion. There's a chain there, but you just can't see it. It's made from a single strand of fibre optic cable that converts your pedal energy into light. It then travels down the drivetrain, is amplified at the hub, converted back into mechanical power, and propels the rear wheel into motion with 10000 times more energy than you put in. The UCI doesn't know about it yet but it will be banned when this new and amazing technology is found out.

Hi Wade have a great Christmas (without the snow) and New Year, all the best off luck to you with the Bay Classic, I will try to get down for a look. For all you that haven't had the opportunity to meet Wade face to face, he is a genuine guy with a great passon for cycing! He would have to be the best sand bagger I have ever met! But seriously I wish we all had the commitment and time that this blog allows Wade, to live all of our cycling dreams! ;-) Hey all of you have a great Christmas and keep safe on the road (watch out for those guys on tribars)!
