Did management approve this?
No I didn't!
1.42pm… you're late for work!
Geez…You guys are worse than my boss!
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to post anything today fellas. I have a few ideas for tomorrow, but I'm open to suggestions. Any special requests?
Yes Wade! – as a proud wearer of your kit, how about discussing the WORST kits ever – surely the current Fuju-Servetto has got to be right up there!? As a proven bike style guru, can't you give them some “tips”?
The recent Audax Classic in Bright has me wanting to know more about muscle cramp…is that a topic you've covered before?
Drink plenty of water and/or hydration drink to replace lost enzyms/salts etc., spin softly, stretch, gels, eat if necessary (i find protein bars can help), when off bike consider gearing, etc. – the trick is to be on top of it and be aware of intake throughout ride as a preventation.
Magnesium's your key to avoiding cramps. Drink sustagen, it has plenty
What about the new AG2R kit, I thought it was some new local team when I saw them at the TDU.
CT didn't say what day!!
xrider64, the nude look Fuji is good but I suggest you Google “Ton Ton Tapis”. The jersey has a guy with a walrus mo on the front…very niiiice.
Endura have a hydration powder that has magnesium added – seems to work for me.
Knowing I was going into the event 'underdone' and that I'm prone to cramping I did do all these things ;including having a 12/27 cluster to fall back on.
I also took a potassium/magnesium supplement for a few days leading up to the ride. I wonder if that did more harm than good?
Hey JM, this is a great question and I often get cramps as well when I'm over my head and underdone.
I did a post about it here a while back: http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2009/05/cramping...
Cheers,
::WW
I came back here and checked for your return multiple times after around 1:27pm so I could get my fix. No posts! Damn. Got on my track bike out and hit the rollers and sweated it out… got my fix like that instead.
Would love some information on the best way to utilise the rollers for a spin session when the weather's wet. Can get a little boring sitting there spinning away for an hour or more. Suggestions?
You need a wet weather bike :-D
Magnesium is but one important electrolyte. Cramping has to do with osmotic pressure in your muscle cells. Dehydration really doesnt help. Long story really. But hitting the endura will help. Over in Adelaide I tried out Verofit. That stuff worked better than endura for me. Knocked over a 320km day without a hint of cramping. I'm going to get the spectrophotometer on to it next week and see if their claims are indeed correct. But I would recommend it to all the endura faithful out there.
I second that, riding a trainer can get damn boring. Some trainer specific workouts to keep things interesting would be nice or how to do hill reps using a trainer, (if possible).
Wade, how about suggesting/links to great alternate bloggers' pages to look at when you feel like a day off – fatty, snobby, stevil, prolly etc etc..?
Dear CT
During a training camp last year in the lead up to the Tour of Bright, i was concerned to see some members of our club relaxing after our assault up Falls Creek by knocking back a few “Low Carb” beers.
Clearly there is a need to better educate such riders that they would be better off in their recovery efforts for the next day's riding by drinking “High Carb” beer instead.
How about some tips rating the best recovery beers to drink at the end of a hard day's riding ?
Actually, if you replaced the 'guy with a walrus mo' and replaced him with a CT logo . . .
Wade, how about a story on pro kit look, sock lengths, knick lengths, matching cap etc.. I have been copping a spray for months now from the paloton (fashion sock police) about the “dos”and “”dont's” on what to wear and how to wear it….?
I think that's a great idea Scott. Lots of link love has come my way and I think it's time to pay it forward!
