I wish was able to communicate with them Matt. I'd be very interested in understanding how on earth they ever got into cycling in the first place. They didn't speak any English unfortunately and my Vietnamese is limited to words that describe my favorite foods.

Wade, did you get a chance to chat with the guys on the local bunch ride? I'd be interested to see what the bike culture is like in Vietnam, do they sprint to the BP and finish with a latte?

FOCUS - Less about picture sizes guys and more about the riding and location!! ... although a picture of the pothole encountered on the EPIC ride would be a good view. I remember travelling through Vietnam on a holiday and the roads were really average.

Thanks guys. I just tested exporting to 72 DPI and the filesize is cut down about 80% without a noticeable difference. It should make a big difference

About the photo size thing... they only need to be 72 DPI for web. Even the most basic photo editing tool should let you change your image resolution from 300 DPI (standard for cameras) to 72 DPI.

Also, having them at 72 DPI will stop people from nicking your photos to print them.

Photoshop is wonderful ~ but is is also expensive, takes up lots of hard disc space and a can be a pain to fire up on low ram pc's - try pixresizer from bluefive.pair.com
It's free and is only 3mbs. As a web developer - I often need to resize images quickly on the fly from different places around the world.
You can retain your great 800px width images but the download speed of the pages will fly. Try and aim for a size of 50k approx per image - but anything up to 100k is acceptable. - once you go over that your site will suffer.

I'm so jealous..how cruel of you to upload these awesome photo's for poor saps like me stuck in a windowless office (unless you count the Microsoft flavour). No fair! :-P
I think I've just found my next holiday location. Looks like you guys are having the time of your lives. :-)

Oh and as for the photo sizes...I've had the odd one that didn't load first time. Also, by reducing the size first, you increase the number of photos you can upload at those slow Internet cafe's! ;-)

I'm loading slower than normal and one or two of the pics are only loading half way (the rest is greyed out). This may just be me though!
