What You Missed This Morning Photo Competition Winners!

MILFORD
First of all I want to thank the hundreds of people who went out and shared the magic of their morning ride with us over Christmas. The competition wasn't restricted to a particular type of camera this time, but it's amazing how far things have come in such a short time with camera phone technology. As we've seen, if you get the right light and composition you can capture some spectacular images.

I have to admit that the voting system to choose the winners was not ideal. Of course choosing the “best” photos is a subjective thing so the fairest thing to do is leave it up to the people’s choice (which inevitably turns into a social media popularity contest). However, it would have cost a lot of money in web development costs to create a voting system specifically for this contest which I could not justify.

In any case, I used the most fairest voting mechanism I could think of while trying to eliminate scamming and multiple votes. In the end I think we have some fantastic winning photos and I congratulate everyone who made it to the finals.

Well done everyone. Personally I love that the winners were all  shots that look like they were just magic moments on a normal morning ride. When people ask how you get up and go riding so early it’s normally because they have never seen these sights and had the feelings that come with them, it makes the rest of the day much more enjoyable.

  • norbs

Damn it, I don’t have enough friends.  :)

Congrats to the winners. All good shots.

    Congrats to the winners…

Some awesome pics in there… and plenty of others in the list worthy of a prize too…

  • Tinderbox!

I believe the 2nd place photo is taken in Tinderbox, Tasmania.  (Just 20km south of the Hobart CBD).  It’s a great little loop with a mixture of sealed and unsealed road.

Congratulations to the winners.  There were some awesome looking rides captured, and not just in the finalists.  And I think we should thank the sponsors for donating such great prizes (even though I didnt win one…) #slightlyjealous

  • Adele

YEY! The winning photo was the one I voted for! One of my own favourite places to ride!

  • Zie

‘separating the blacks and the whites’ very stiff – tough competition though. Well done

  • Hardo

I agree, great pix, awesome prizes, fantastic competition… bringing out spirit of the ride. Having ridden the climb to Lake Morris just yesterday, I can attest to 4th placed Stephen Austen that he deserves the prize!

  • Pete

Pretty much all of my favorites were up there between the actual winners and the tshirt winners. “Ride towards the life” “and then we got wet” and for some reason “separating blacks and whites” were my top 3. I guess that bridge one was also pretty cool. congrats to all.

  • Aaronupson

Thanks Zie and Pete and everyone that showed support for my photo.
